Row Aurora Loch Ness

New Adventure: Row Aurora’s Caledonian Canal & North Sea Adventure

No stranger to ocean rowing adventures, Dawn and Jaime Wood had grand plans for a world first, and genuinely incredible Arctic adventure.

Covid saw to it that that has had to be delayed.

Not a couple to be put off by a little thing like a worldwide pandemic, they set up a last minute but very cool adventure.

They plan to start from the Atlantic side of Scotland, row through the middle of Scotland on the Caledonian Canal through various lochs (and locks), including Loch Ness. Then when they get to the Eastern side of Scotland they’ll row out into the North Sea, around the headland, and head South to their ultimate destination of Berwick-Upon-Tweed.

We’ve worked with this pair in the past and it’s always a real treat. A genuinely brilliant couple who understand the true meaning of adventure – there are no roadblocks, different paths.

Dawn has rowed across the Atlantic solo, and is an experienced RYA instructor and ocean rowing trainer, so it’s the sort of adventure where we can just sit back and enjoy watching their amazing progress.

Currently in the North Sea they are probably about two thirds of the distance into the adventure – however now they are dealing with coastal waves, tidal flow, unpredictable currents, and plenty of Scottish fishing traffic!
